Number One Bruton plans expansion with acquisition of next-door pub
Number One Bruton, the boutique hotel in Bruton, is planning to spread its wings.
The hotel's owners, Aled Rees and Claudia Waddams, have recently acquired a neighbouring pub with plans to enhance their food and drink options, add more rooms, and create a communal space
This comes after the announcement that the Michelin-starred Osip restaurant in the hotel will relocate to a larger, rural location next year.
Hotelier Aled Rees said: "We are thrilled to now be in a position to start planning the improved version of our hotel, restaurant and bar and look forward to continuing to deliver the best in warmth and hospitality to our valued guests, friends and supporters."
Opened in 2020, Number One Bruton is a boutique hotel that describes itself as 'a love letter to Somerset', and 'a showcase for the county's craft heritage, artistry and culture'. The establishment has been deeply committed to local suppliers, heritage, craftspeople, and artists, and promises to continue this commitment in its next phase.
As for the Michelin-starred Osip, it will be missed.
Rees added, "Merlin Labron-Johnson and his exceptional team will always be close to our hearts; part of the Number One family and we wish them all the very best as they enter this new phase of their journey."
While specific details of the new food and beverage offerings are yet to be disclosed, it is clear that the hotel aims to continue being an 'abundant, cosy, joyful escape to the South West'. The owners will once again collaborate with B2 Architects and Frank & Faber, confident that they'll receive the best in architectural and interior design.
