Dog owners visiting Collett Park are being reminded to keep their pets on a lead at all times, following the installation of new signage around the park.

The update comes as Shepton Mallet Town Council reinforces its bylaw requiring dogs to be leashed, with the recent expiration of a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) previously implemented by Somerset Council.

The council emphasises that Shepton Mallet is surrounded by a variety of public footpaths and countryside routes where dogs can roam off-lead, offering plenty of alternative spaces for dog owners to exercise their pets freely. However, within Collett Park, dogs must remain on a lead for the comfort and safety of all park visitors.

The town council also reminds residents that dogs are not allowed in the children's play area under any circumstances.
