New Dance Classes for Young People in Shepton Mallet
By Guest 13th May 2026
Make the Sunshine CIC is launching a range of exciting new creative programmes designed to inspire confidence, creativity, and self-expression in young people from its new High Street studio.
Among the new opportunities are two new dance classes for young people — sunRISE Dance (ages 7–12) and LUMEN Dance Collective (ages 13+). The sessions blend contemporary dance, creative movement, and powerful choreography in a supportive and welcoming environment.
Both programmes are led by experienced dance artist Mandy Redmond of Adventures in Dance, who trained at the Royal Ballet School and the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. With over fifteen years of experience performing, teaching, and choreographing across the UK, Mandy brings a wealth of expertise, energy, and passion to the sessions.
These classes are about more than dance — they're about giving young people a space to express themselves, build confidence, and feel part of something positive.
The classes offer young people an expressive and energetic space to explore movement, choreography, and creativity. Sessions focus on personal expression, contemporary technique, strength, and performance skills, encouraging participants to find their own voice through dance.
Participants can expect:
- High-energy, engaging sessions
- Opportunities to develop strength, fitness, and flexibility
- Creative choreography and performance experiences
- A supportive, inclusive environment where all abilities are welcome
Due to high demand, sunRISE Dance is already fully booked and has a waiting list in place. However, there are still spaces available in LUMEN Dance Collective for ages 13+.
Young people interested in joining LUMEN are invited to attend a free taster session this Thursday 14th May to try out the class before signing up.
