Actress Emilia Clarke MBE, best known for her iconic role as Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, recently extended her support to Happy Landings Animal Sanctuary.

Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen, the First of Her Name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Protector of the Seven Kingdoms, the Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi of the Great Grass Sea, the Unburnt, and the Breaker of Chains, had the pleasure of meeting Bertie, a pygmy goat from the sanctuary.

Happy Landings Animal Sanctuary has been a pillar of hope for abandoned, abused, and neglected animals in the region for four decades. Their journey began with a rescue mission for a goose named Pimple, which founder Annabelle Walters nursed back to health after it was injured in a collision with overhead wires.

Annabelle Walters, reflecting on that first rescue, said, "It had flown into some overhead wires and was badly injured. I'd had plenty of experience with birds before and over the course of a few days, was able to rehabilitate it so it was well enough to fly away."

Since then, Happy Landings has provided refuge and care to over 10,000 animals, including chinchillas, horses, dogs, rabbits, and cats. Their mission is clear: if an animal is furry or feathered and in need, they will step in to help.

In their 40th year of operation, Happy Landings is launching a crucial fundraising campaign aimed at securing £40,000. These funds are essential to cover expenses like veterinary bills, shelter, heating, food, and specialist care for the animals. Financial stability has always been a challenge for the sanctuary, and this campaign is a significant step towards ensuring their long-term sustainability.

The sanctuary depends entirely on the generosity of the public. They are seeking one-off donations, volunteers for fundraising events, and corporate partnerships to continue their vital work of rescuing and caring for animals in need. Your support can make a difference, not just for the animals they help today but for those they will rescue in the future.
