Mendip District Council showed their solidarity with Ukraine by flying their national flag at the council offices in Shepton Mallet.
Councillors and staff took part in a one-minute silence at 11am on 24 February 2023 - the anniversary of Russia's invasion - to remember those most impacted by the war.
Cllr Ros Wyke, Leader of Mendip District Council, said: "We are appalled that this war continues, and that millions of people are now without homes and their lives have changed forever.
"The courage and strength of the county is astonishing.
"We have warmly welcomed displaced Ukrainians to Somerset and have now housed 982 families across the county.
"Our communities continue to show their generosity by opening their home up as sponsors, to allow Ukrainians to have safe places to re-start their new lives."
Wells Cathedral is hosting a vigil on Sunday 26 February at 3pm. Admission to the service is free.
Homes are needed for moving refugees out of sponsored accommodation and into private accommodation. If you're a landlord, you could receive a one-off payment of up to £4000 by providing a home for a Ukrainian family.
