Meeting called as Shepton councillors face key vote on Amulet campaign

Shepton Mallet Town Council will meet on Tuesday 23 September 2025 at 6pm for an Extraordinary Full Council meeting, with two major items on the agenda: the Let's Buy The Amulet community share offer and the creation of a new Town Board.
An extraordinary meeting is a special session called outside the council's normal meeting schedule. It's used when urgent or specific matters need to be decided before the next regular meeting.
The meeting will take place in the Council Chamber at Shape, Cannards Grave Road, and is open to the public both in person and online.
The council will consider a motion to invest in the Amulet Centre Limited's community share offer. The campaign aims to support the purchase and redevelopment of The Amulet building in the town centre as a multi-purpose community venue.
The agenda also includes a proposal to establish a working relationship with the proposed Town Board, with councillors set to decide on governance, officer time and how the council might be represented on the board.
The meeting will begin with a public participation session, limited to 20 minutes. Anyone wishing to speak must register before 12 noon on the day of the meeting by contacting the Town Council directly.
Councillors are expected to consider recommendations on declarations of interest and any apologies for absence, before moving on to formal debate on the two core agenda items.
Meeting documents and online access details are available via the Shepton Mallet Town Council website.
