Sunday saw the 167th Mid-Somerset Show take place in Shepton Mallet.

With the sun out, the one-day agricultural show attracted more than 15,000 people to see an array of countryside events for all the family.

While the crowds browsed the stalls and admired the livestock, Moon's Cider from Glastonbury won the Mid-Somerset Show Showering Cup and the Bob Cork Perpetual Trophy for Best Somerset Produced Cider, while Stones' Bittersweet Cider was awarded Reserve Supreme Champion.

In the South West Cheese Awards, Ditcheat-based cheese producers Barbers were crowned the Reserve Supreme Champion and were awarded the Kenneth Hill Perpetual Challenge Cup behind the Supreme Champion, Long Clawson Dairy.

Richard Norman from Yeovil was crowned Supreme Dairy Champion in the Cattle section, while Quaish Limousin retained the Supreme Beef Champion title.

The Interbreed Champion Pig trophy for the Supreme Champion went to Alice Newth from Prestleigh.

In the Arts and Crafts Tent, many people from the local area were part of the record 1,300 entries, including Neal Hatch from Somerton who won 13 first prizes across the Flower Show.

Ted Billing from Shepton Mallet was awarded the KA Moores Perpetual Challenge Cup for Best Exhibit in the Children's Section.

Show secretary, Christine Barham, said: "Preparations for this year's show were a little more challenging due to the wet weather we had, but we were thrilled to have a great show with a huge number of visitors, entrants and traders.

"Cattle entries were a big success with the introduction of lots of new classes and our arts and crafts section also remained popular with lots of budding bakers and crafters. I'd like to congratulate all our winners across all our sections.

"I'd also like to thank Matthew Showering for being our president, all of our sponsors and our team of volunteers who make the show possible every year.

"We can't wait to see everyone again next year on our new showground on Sunday 16th August 2020."

Next year's show will take place on the new site – just a little closer to Cannard's Grave.
