The Shepton Mallet Lantern Parade takes place this weekend

Shepton Mallet is set to light up with creativity and community spirit for this year's Lantern Parade, scheduled for Saturday (16th December).

The event will start in Collett Park, with everyone invited to join the luminous procession through the town.

Those interested in crafting their own lanterns for the parade can find helpful tips and guidance on the event's website: Shepton Lantern Festival Workshops.

The organisers are encouraging residents to get involved and contribute to this festive tradition. The event promises to be a family-friendly affair, with the lantern-making workshops being an opportunity for all ages to participate.

The Lantern Parade is set to assemble in Collett Park at 5 pm on 16th December, embarking on a route that will showcase the town's festive spirit. Accompanied by music from various bands, the parade will travel around the park and through Shepton Mallet to the Market Cross. The event will also offer food and drink options for attendees to enjoy.

This annual parade is more than just a festive event; it represents a celebration of community unity and creativity. The organisers are looking forward to welcoming both new and familiar faces, whether as volunteers or participants, to make this year's Lantern Parade a shining success.
