Shepton Mallet Town Council has launched an ambitious initiative to revitalise Collett Park, aiming to transform it into a key gateway for the town and marking the start of the Strawberry Line at the end of Park Road.

This project is designed to boost the town's economic regeneration and increase footfall in the park throughout the year, enhancing both facilities and the overall visitor experience while promoting health, well-being, and community interaction.

Key areas identified for development include the park's entrance, café amenities, toilet facilities, landscaping around the café, and areas for community group activities. To ensure these improvements align with local needs and expectations, residents of Shepton Mallet are encouraged to participate in a detailed survey.

This survey seeks opinions on various aspects of the park's redevelopment, from desired features in the new café to the types of events and activities that would attract more visitors. It also includes questions about what currently draws visitors to Collett Park, what additional features could encourage more frequent visits, and specific improvements people would like to see in the café and other facilities.

Participants are also invited to provide feedback on the architectural approach for new constructions, such as whether the focus should be on zero carbon emissions, the use of natural materials, or other design features. Additionally, the survey explores funding options for the improvements, including the amount of financial support taxpayers would be willing to contribute through council tax.

The feedback collected will play a crucial role in the planning and development phases, ensuring that the enhancements reflect the community's preferences and needs.

The project is slated for completion by 2027, with the aim of transforming Collett Park into a more welcoming and versatile space for all visitors.
