Haskins in Shepton Mallet reveal parking charges that will begin in January
Haskins in Shepton Mallet has revealed the details of the parking charges and management that will come into force in January.
In July Haskins announced parking management would begin shortly within its car park.
A spokesperson said: "It has taken some time, however we wanted to ensure we picked a system that best suited our customers' needs and allows us to free up spaces currently taken by cars left on site all day, depriving our valued customers of a space when they arrive to shop.
"JH Haskins has now partnered up with Park with Ease. Established in 2012, Park with Ease is the UK's ethical parking management system.
"Its aim is simple, to make parking as user-friendly and fair as possible, and eradicate the issues associated with traditional parking systems such as fines and penalties."
On entering the Retail Park the intelligent camera system will record your vehicle's number plate and take a time stamp of entry, therefore no ticket is required saving time and helping the environment.
To make payment, enter your car registration at one of the payment kiosks located at the main Haskins entrance or at the cane furniture and greeting card department.
You will then be prompted with details of required payment. This can be completed by either cash or card.
Once payment has been completed, you can leave the Retail Park. If you have forgotten to pay, you can make payment up to 48 hours after via mobile or online.
This new management of the car park will begin next month parking will be free for 90 minutes then £1 per hour in half hourly increments.
Overnight parking from 10pm to 8am will be priced at £2 and 10 per cent of all the parking revenue will be used to offset Haskins' carbon footprint.
The exact date of when the new parking system will be active has not yet been confirmed, but it will be publicised nearer the time.
Signage will be on display within the car park so people will know how much to pay, and Park with Ease do not produce tickets to display, your registration is taken by the camera system on entrance and exit from the site.
Disabled Blue Badge holders are not exempt from the parking charges, and HGV parking will not be permitted.
If you do not pay within 48 hours for your parking then a parking charge notice can be issued. The fine is £60 with a reduction to £35 if paid within 14 days.
