Known as one of the UK's most haunted locations, the historic prison is running guided tours throughout October, offering a spine-tingling experience as visitors are led through its dark and eerie corridors. The ghost tours will run on various dates in October, starting at 6:30pm, and tickets cost £30 per person. The event is recommended for ages 12 and up, making it ideal for older children and adults who want a chilling experience this Halloween.

Sleepover Ghost Hunt at Shepton Mallet Prison

For those who want to test their courage even further, the prison is also hosting an overnight ghost hunt on October 25th. Guests will be able to spend a full night inside the prison, exploring its haunted cells and corridors alongside experienced paranormal investigators. As part of its 2024 Halloween celebrations, Wookey Hole's famous caves will be transformed with an eerie blood-red glow, creating a truly magical—and slightly terrifying—atmosphere. The Blood Moon will run on weekends from 5th October and every day from 26th October to 3rd November.

Visitors to Wookey Hole can also enjoy the return of the Wookey Hole Circus, a Giant Pumpkin Trail, a Halloween-themed adventure golf course, and a fancy dress competition. For those wanting to make a night of it, the Wookey Hole Hotel is offering staycation packages for a complete Halloween experience. Tickets start at £19 for children and £24 for adults​(
