Glastonbury Festival bin painters create original artworks to raise funds for Wells skatepark

A group of artists known for painting the colourful bins at Glastonbury Festival have taken their talents in a new direction — and it's all to help raise money for Wells' planned community skatepark.
The artists are hand-painting a series of one-of-a-kind skateboard decks, which will be auctioned later this year to support the fundraising campaign. The project is part of a new initiative led by Mayor Louis Agabani, in partnership with Wells Art Contemporary, and aims to bring together creativity and community for a good cause.
The skatepark project is designed to provide a free, inclusive outdoor space where local children, teenagers and families can stay active, socialise and learn new skills.
"The artworks are beautiful, and every deck helps bring us closer to building a much-needed skatepark for our growing community," a project spokesperson said.
A selection of the painted boards will be on display at Wells Art Contemporary in Wells Cathedral in October, with all decks being auctioned online later in the year.
To follow the progress of the project and see the finished boards as they are completed, supporters are encouraged to follow @wells_skatepark and @waccommunity on Instagram. Donations can also be made via the crowdfunding page at crowdfunder.co.uk/p/skatewells.
