Fire Domestic at Broad Cross, Shepton Mallet

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call reporting a fire at the above location.

Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Shepton Mallet, one fire appliance from Wells, one fire appliance from Glastonbury and a duty officer to attend this incident.

On arrival the incident commander confirmed a fuse box within the property on fire. Crews promptly got to work with four breathing apparatus, two hose reel jet, three carbon dioxide fire extinguishers and one thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire.

Western Power were requested to attend to isolate the electrics to the property.

The incident commander confirmed the affected flat was ten percent fire damaged and fifty percent smoke damaged. The property was ventilated using a positive pressure ventilation fan. Three flats suffered slight smoke damage and were naturally ventilated.

This incident was believed to be an accidental ignition.
