Evercreech Primary School officially converts to academy status
By Laura Linham 9th Dec 2024
Evercreech Church of England Primary School has officially converted to academy status under the Academies Act 2010, marking a significant change in its governance and operational structure.
Located on Paradise Crescent in Evercreech, the school has transitioned from its predecessor institution, retaining its name but now operating as a new legal entity. This conversion means the former school has officially closed, and the newly formed academy is now in place.
Academy conversions are designed to give schools greater autonomy, allowing them to make decisions locally to better meet the needs of their students and community. While the day-to-day experience for pupils and parents may remain unchanged, the legal status of the school is different.
It is important to note that the academy is a new entity and may not yet have been inspected by Ofsted under section 5 or section 8 of the Education Act 2005. However, the inspection history of the predecessor school is available on Ofsted's reports website for up to five years after the school's closure, providing parents and stakeholders with insights into the school's previous performance.
Ofsted considers the latest inspection judgements of the predecessor school when scheduling the first inspection of the academy. Additionally, His Majesty's Chief Inspector (HMCI) has the authority to inspect any school in England if there is evidence suggesting that an inspection would be beneficial, or if requested by the Secretary of State.
The Evercreech Primary School conversion marks a new chapter for the institution, offering opportunities for growth and development while maintaining its commitment to providing high-quality education to its pupils.
