Evercreech Explorer Scouts launch virtual balloon race

By Guest 16th Jul 2021

Evercreech Explorer Scouts have launched their first virtual balloon race.

Due to Covid, the Scouts have been greatly restricted in the fundraising that they have been able to attend or deliver, but they need to raise vital funds to continue offering skills for life.

The Scouts are open to all young people aged 14 to 18 and although based in Evercreech, cover a large surrounding area.

Balloons are £3 and there are a large variety of prizes on offer. The overall winner of the race will win £500 with second place receiving an iPad.

The Evercreech Scouts are one of several teams in the race, but the balloon from their team that travels the furthest will also win a cheese, chutney and cider hamper from Wyke Farms, and 10 random players will also win a £10 book voucher.

The race starts on Christmas Day, and you can watch your balloon live as it leaves Santa's Village in Lapland and travels across the world.

This makes it a great activity for families over the Christmas break. You can customise the look of your balloon, as well as prepare it for harsh winds and weather.

Balloons can also be gifted, so why not give one this Christmas to the person who has everything? They also make a great eco-friendly gift.
