Families looking for ways to keep busy this Easter holiday are being invited to "unlock the fun" at Shepton Mallet Prison, with a range of seasonal activities running throughout the break.

The historic attraction is offering a free Easter egg hunt for visitors with a valid entry ticket. Children will be able to explore the prison grounds in search of large decorated eggs, each featuring a letter to help crack an anagram. A chocolate prize awaits those who solve the puzzle, and completed worksheets can also be shown in the café for 10% off food and drink.

Creative Easter-themed activities will also be on offer, including colouring sheets and bunny mask decorating.

One highlight of the season will be a special visit from the Easter Bunny, who will be appearing at the prison from 11am to 3pm on selected days. Children can pose for a festive photo — or even a "cellfie" — with the historic prison backdrop.

Another feature of the Easter programme is the Super Detective Masterclass, a one-hour interactive session where young visitors can learn how to analyse a crime scene, take fingerprints, solve puzzles and crack codes. Adults are encouraged to get involved too, acting as assistants in this family-friendly activity. Discounted rates are available for those who also purchase an entry ticket.
