Collett Park in Shepton has been honoured with the Green Flag Award, officially recognising it as one of the best parks in the country.

This international accolade highlights the dedication and hard work of the team that maintains the park, ensuring it remains a top-quality green space for residents and visitors.

The award is a testament to the efforts of staff and volunteers who keep the park in excellent condition, providing a vital community space for socialising, enjoying nature, and offering a safe area for children to play.

Paul Todd MBE, Green Flag Award Scheme Manager for Keep Britain Tidy, congratulated the team: "I would like to congratulate everyone involved at Collett Park on achieving a Green Flag Award. Collett Park is a vital green space for communities in Shepton Mallet to socialise, enjoy nature, for children to play safely and it provides important opportunities for park users to improve their physical and mental health."

He added, "We know that staff and volunteers work tirelessly to ensure that it maintains the high standards of the Green Flag Award. Everyone involved should feel extremely proud of their achievement. It is important that our free-to-use spaces are maintained to the Green Flag Award standard, making them accessible for all members of the community while ensuring the environment is protected."

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under licence from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces. It sets the benchmark for green space management across the UK and around the world.
