A new shop showcasing the work of more than 30 local artists and makers is set to open on Town Street in Shepton Mallet next week.

The Artistry will open its doors at 4pm on 17 July at 37 Town Street. The new shop forms part of Shepton Mallet Town Council's pop-up shop initiative, which aims to support economic regeneration and bring new life to the High Street.

The Council has funded the rent for the unit and provided an initial grant to help cover start-up costs, following a decision last year to create a dedicated pop-up retail space.

To deliver the project, the Council appointed Interim Spaces, a regeneration organisation known for its work supporting artist studios and retail incubators in Shepton. The vacant unit has now been transformed into a collective retail space, managed by a core team of local makers.

The Artistry will offer a rotating range of handmade goods including homewares, artwork, jewellery, ceramics and textiles, alongside a growing programme of accessible workshops for the local community.

"We are really excited to see The Artistry come to life and bring a fresh new shop front to our Town Centre," said a spokesperson for Shepton Mallet Town Council. "This project is a key part of our wider efforts to support the local economy and breathe new life into our High Street. By investing in pop-up spaces like this, we're creating opportunities for local makers to grow their businesses while enhancing the vibrancy and appeal of Shepton's town centre for residents and visitors alike."

Dan Simon, Director of Interim Spaces, added: "The Artistry is both a shop and a platform for local talent, managed by a core group of local makers, and a way to encourage more footfall down to Town Street. We're proud to be working with Shepton Mallet Town Council launching another project in our town that's rooted in creativity, community and practical regeneration."

The shop will officially launch at 4pm on Wednesday 17 July with an open event for the public. Visitors are invited to explore the shop, meet the makers, and enjoy refreshments sponsored by Brothers Drinks.

Anyone interested in hosting workshops or selling products at The Artistry can contact the team at [email protected].
