Residents across Shepton Mallet are being encouraged to take a simple step towards better health, with free NHS Health Checks available throughout 2026 at Park Medical Practice, Grove House Surgery, and SHAPE Mendip Council Offices.

NHS Health Checks are available to eligible adults aged 40–74 and can help identify early signs of conditions such as heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, diabetes, and dementia. The appointment takes around 30 minutes and includes simple checks such as blood pressure and cholesterol testing, along with personalised advice to help people improve their long-term health.

Eligible patients registered with Park Medical Practice and Grove House Surgery may receive invitations directly from their GP practice to attend an NHS Health Check. If you receive an invitation, please take up the opportunity and book your appointment.

For those who would prefer not to wait for an invitation, NHS Health Checks can also be booked directly. Eligible residents can arrange an appointment with the outreach team at SHAPE Mendip Council Offices through the Healthy Somerset website.

By offering appointments in both GP practices and community settings, local partners are making it easier for people to access preventative healthcare and take positive steps to protect their health.
