Nine DJs are gearing up to electrify Bar 501 in Shepton Mallet this Saturday with an evening dedicated to techno and electronic music.

The event, dubbed MSS01, kicks off at 4pm and will run until midnight on September 23. It's all part of a broader fundraising effort for Cancer Support UK, orchestrated mainly by Ciaran Jones.

Local group Manic Street Screechers, who have already amassed more than £3,500 for the cancer charity through various activities, are capping off their fundraising efforts with this musical event, ahead of a charity skydive next month.

Ciaran Jones, a member of Manic Street Screechers and one of the performers for the night, said: "We've got a great range of nationwide and locally sourced talents, at a very cheap cost, for a good cause." The musical line-up will span genres such as speed garage, techno, bassline, and drum & bass.

Guests are encouraged to bring cash for a raffle featuring prizes donated by local businesses, including handmade jewellery, ceramics, art prints, and vouchers for local eateries. The venue, colloquially known as "the gin bar," will close its doors to the public from 5pm onwards to host the charity event, where £4 pints and an array of cocktails will be on offer.

Tickets for the event can be bought at the door for £6 or in advance for £5 by emailing [email protected]. While the music starts at 4pm, tickets are necessary from 5pm onward.
