Shepton Mallet is set to come alive with festivities in celebration of the king's coronation, offering a variety of events for locals and visitors alike.

For those looking for a lively night out, don't miss Hip City Classic Soul at the Art Bank on May 6th. Dance the night away to the best Northern Soul, Motown and RnB with three amazing DJs playing their vinyl.

On Saturday, May 6th, head down to the Midsomerset Showground on Cannards Grave Road from 7pm to 10pm for a party in a field. The event will feature live music, a hog roast, and a bar, with attendees encouraged to bring their own picnic. The night will culminate with a breathtaking fireworks display.

The following day, Sunday, May 7th, Shepton Mallet will host a picnic in the park coronation concert. The event will take place at Collett Park, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own picnic. An ice cream van and a bar will also be available. The coronation concert will be shown on a large screen, offering the perfect opportunity to celebrate the new king's ascension with fellow residents.

For those looking for a more relaxed and immersive experience, the East Somerset Railway is set to host a Murder to Measure theatre group presentation of "As You Wave Me Goodbye" on Sunday, May 7th. This ticketed event will feature a three-course dinner and promises to be a night of intrigue and excitement. The play will be performed in two parts, with actors mingling with diners throughout the evening. Dress up in 1940s-style attire for a chance to win the best-dressed attendee prize.

Dog lovers can head to The Showground on May 7th for Dog Festival 2023, an all-day event featuring competitive dog groomers, educational seminars, a vintage flea market, tattoo parlour, face painting, and amazing entertainment. Tickets start from £10, and under-13s get in for free. The event is in aid of Little Gems Rescue, a cause very close to their hearts.

With such an exciting range of events on offer, Shepton Mallet is sure to be a hive of activity over the king's coronation weekend.
