Car catches fire at bottom of Long Hill near Shepton Mallet

A car was badly damaged by fire this morning (May 12) at the bottom of Long Hill, near Shepton Mallet.

One fire appliance from Shepton Mallet attended a report just before 7.30am of a vehicle on fire at the bottom of Long Hill.

The vehicle was well alight and crews got to work using one hose reel jet and two breathing apparatus sets.

The police were requested due to the precarious position on the road of the vehicle, which was 90 per cent damaged by the fire.
