Bruton gas upgrade works completed on schedule
Wales & West Utilities has successfully completed their £90,000 gas pipe upgrade scheme in Bruton.
Initiated in July, the work was essential for maintaining a safe and reliable gas supply to local homes and businesses.
To ensure the smooth progress of the operation, Wales & West Utilities coordinated closely with Somerset County Council and Bruton Town Council. Traffic management measures were in place throughout the duration of the project.
Simon Lee, who managed the gas pipe upgrade work for Wales & West Utilities, said: "We're delighted that we have completed this work on time and want to thank everyone who lives and works in the area for bearing with us while we completed this essential work."
Lee stressed the crucial role of the gas network in the daily lives of Bruton residents. "While most of the gas network is underground and out of sight, it plays a central role in the daily lives of people across the area. Whether it's heating your home, making the family dinner or having a hot bath, we understand how important it is for your gas supply to be safe and reliable and there when you need it."
The upgrade is part of broader efforts to prepare for more sustainable energy sources. "This work was essential to keep the gas flowing to local homes and businesses today, and to make sure the gas network is ready to transport hydrogen and biomethane, so we can all play our part in a green future," Lee added.
Wales & West Utilities serves 7.5 million people across the south-west of England and Wales. For any gas or carbon monoxide emergencies, residents can reach out to their 24/7 helpline at 0800 111 999.
