The Bath and West Railway at tje Showground is chugging full steam ahead with an exciting new initiative aimed at young train aficionados.

Starting from October 8th, and continuing on the first Sunday of each month from November, the railway is launching a Sunday club specifically for juniors aged 13 and above.

The club plans to offer hands-on experience, allowing junior members the opportunity to operate the railway's three distinct locos, depending on age and ability.

The locomotives include Centaur, an electrical loco; Shepton, a diesel loco; and Mendip, a steam loco.

On these special Sundays, the club will be exclusively open for junior members and instructors, without the presence of regular adult members. The instructors will guide the young train enthusiasts through the workings of these impressive machines.

The inaugural session on October 8th has only five slots available, so act quickly if you're interested. To secure your place, you must email [email protected]. As interest grows, the club hopes to increase the number of available spots in future sessions.

The club is eager to share the joy of railway engineering with a younger audience and looks forward to welcoming new junior members. For further information, visit their website at www.essmee.org.uk.
