Are you retired, an avid train enthusiast, or someone who's always dreamt of being behind the controls of a steam locomotive?

If the answer is yes, then you're in for a treat! East Somerset Society of Model and Experimental Engineers (ESSMEE) is inviting you to an open morning at their railway club.

The event is taking place on Wednesday, October 11th, from 10.00 am to 12.30 pm. It's a golden opportunity for anyone who is interested in steam trains, particularly those who are retired, to see what the club does and how you can get involved.

The club has a variety of exciting projects lined up, including the ambitious endeavour of building a Black 5 loco from scratch and potential railway line extensions. With several training days already held this year, and more planned for the next, this is your chance to drive a steam train.

Based right here in our community, ESSMEE is eager to increase its membership and share the joy of steam locomotion. During your visit, you'll be welcomed with a cup of tea or coffee and given a tour of the club's facilities.

If you find this opportunity intriguing and wish to take a closer look at what goes on behind the scenes, email [email protected] to register your interest. The club is looking forward to meeting new faces and sharing their passion for trains.
