Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre has again achieved 100 per cent scores from patients, according to the latest results from the Friends and Family Test (FFT).

The hospital scored top marks in the areas of ophthalmology, day ward, endoscopy and inpatient ward. Overall, the hospital scored 99 per cent from the 777 patients who completed the FFT in July.

All providers of health care are required to carry out the Friends and Family Test as part of the NHS' commitment to improving the patient experience.

The FFT results follow the news that Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre is top in the country for primary hip replacements in the year to March 2019, according to the national Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs). The hospital was also in the top five per cent for total knee placements.

The hospital was the first hospital of its kind to be rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission across the five domains of the quality mark.

Connie Stocker, interim hospital director at Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre, said: "Our thanks go to all our patients who took the time to complete the FFT and share their experiences with us.

"Patients sit at the heart of everything that we do, which is why the sort of feedback provided by the FFT is so important – it helps us to continue to fine tune our offering to the benefit of patients.

"My congratulations go to colleagues whose hard work and dedication have led to this positive response from our patients."
