Photo competition offers cash prizes for capturing Somerset life in the countryside

Somerset residents are being invited to enter CPRE Somerset's annual photo competition, which this year focuses on life in the countryside – with two £100 prizes up for grabs.
The countryside charity is asking amateur photographers to submit images that show how people experience and enjoy rural Somerset, with the theme "Somerset: life in the countryside."
Rather than sweeping landscapes, judges are looking for more intimate and personal moments – whether it's a quiet walk, a family picnic, a countryside event, or close-up details that show what makes Somerset special.
There are two entry categories: adults (19 and over), and youth (18 and under), with one winner in each group receiving £100.
Photos must have been taken in the county of Somerset (excluding North Somerset and Bath & North East Somerset), and must feature people or signs of activity, not just empty views. Images can be from any season and must have been taken within the past two years.
Entry is free, and each person can submit up to three photographs. The deadline is 30 September 2025.
To enter, email your photos as attachments to [email protected], including your name, age category, address, email, phone number, where and when the photo was taken, and a caption of no more than 20 words.
Full competition rules can be found on the CPRE Somerset website.
