March's Vault Exhibition: Joseph Stokes + Live Performance from Tolerance Manoeuvre
Join us at The Art Bank for the launch of March's Vault Exhibition, featuring the breathtaking stone carving and sculpture of Joseph Stokes, alongside a live performance from Tolerance Manoeuvre.
Joseph Stokes – Sculptor & Painter
Joseph Stokes is an internationally exhibiting British artist with a background in figurative and decorative stone carving, sculpture, painting, and printmaking. His work, which began 25 years ago in Athens, is rooted in found marble from Pendelis Mountain, shaping his unique approach to improvisational carving.
Blending Neo-Classical Surrealist Biomorphism with traditional carving and painting techniques, Stokes' art explores growth, movement, and subconscious motifs. His inspirations include Henri Michaux, William S. Burroughs, and David Lynch, with each piece reflecting an evolving narrative. The exhibition also features new ink works, including explorations in portraiture.
Live Music: Tolerance Manoeuvre
Experience the sonic glory of Tolerance Manoeuvre, a London-based trio blending cello, electric guitar, trumpet, and three voices into an expansive and emotive sound.
Taking cues from Mogwai and Sigur Rós, while incorporating jazz and folk influences, Tolerance Manoeuvre crafts textured soundscapes with a cinematic, storytelling quality. Their music is both primal and intimate, echoing the raw beauty of Talk Talk's 'Spirit of Eden'.
Don't miss this one-of-a-kind fusion of art and music—an evening of sculptural surrealism, sonic landscapes, and creative exploration.
