Millie, Darcie and Calla

This weekend brought a spectacular start to 2020 with Shepton Mallet Gymnastics Club's tumblers all securinf a place in the next round of the South West tumbling finals.

The club travelled to Dorset to compete in the first competition of the year, which was quite an emotional roller coaster for all gymnasts with lots of happy tears by the end of the day.

Four senior members of Shepton judo club, travelled alongside their coach Dianne White, to High Wycombe for a grading event on February 1.

All four fought incredibly well and the result saw Jake Burnett achieve his 2nd Dan Black belt, and Tom Slee gaining 10 points towards his 2nd Dan. Tom Tripp achieving his 1st Dan black belt and Charlie Bowles gaining 30 points towards his 1st Dan.

Shepton Judo Club's grading

Several members of the Shepton Judo Club recently travelled to the British Judo Centre of Excellence in Walsall to compete in the Samurai Senior and Masters Judo competition.

It was a long and demanding day which revealed some fantastic and inspirational judo. Many hard earned points were gained towards black belts and higher dan grades by several of Shepton's players.

Osbert Weston, one of Shepton Judo Club's younger warriors, recently travelled to Coventry to compete in the Midlands Area Regional Schools Championships.

Osbert fought fantastically well in some tough battles to be awarded a silver medal. Dianne White, the club's head coach, said she was very proud of Osbert's achievement.
