Shepton boxer Reggie Williams wins historic debut bout
By Laura Linham 19th May 2026
A Shepton Mallet boxer has secured a historic first competitive victory for Round House Boxing Club after winning his debut amateur bout in Bristol.
Reggie Williams stepped into the ring earlier this month against home boxer Ollie from Sweatbox Boxing Club and delivered a unanimous points victory after three competitive rounds.
The bout marked a major milestone for Round House Boxing Club, which has only been operating since October 2025.
Club officials said both fighters produced high-quality boxing throughout the contest, with Reggie earning the decision following what was described as a fantastic performance.
The Bristol event was the first time a Round House boxer had competed in a full amateur contest under England Boxing rules.
Earlier this year, Charlene Fewings and Harry Fewings represented the club in skills bouts as Round House Boxing Club began establishing itself on the England Boxing amateur scene.
Reggie's win now makes him the first boxer from the Shepton Mallet club to record a competitive victory.
The club described him as a "fantastic talent" and confirmed he is due to compete at the Manchester Box Cup next month alongside Charlene Fewings.
Both fighters will be aiming to bring home silverware and continue raising the profile of boxing talent in Shepton Mallet.
Round House Boxing Club said the performance showed the potential for more future stars to emerge from the town's growing boxing scene.
