Endurance runners from across the South West will be heading for Shepton Mallet on 27 October for one of the most challenging 10k races on their racing calendar.

The race, which is the final fixture in the 1610 Race Series, will start and finish at Collett Park in Shepton Mallet.

The route leads runners across the park before crossing Charlton Road and continues past the prison.

It weaves through the town's streets before moving out onto scenic country lanes. It's a picturesque route all on Tarmac with two challenging hills along the way.

Runners of all abilities are welcome at the event. The Shepton Mallet 10k is part of the 1610 Race Series, consisting of four 10k races and some family fun runs - which are all located across Somerset and Dorset.

Entry is from £14 and can be done online using the link below or on the day (£2 extra).

Minimum age of 15 (16 on or before 31/12/18). Finishers' medals and age group prizes provided.

Alongside the 10k is a Junior 1k Fun Run which starts at 10.15am at the main start line and is a fantastic opportunity for younger runners to join in and have fun.

Entry costs £2.50 and includes a medal for all runners. It is open to children of all ages and will all be in the park, very young runners need to be accompanied by an adult.
