Collett Park in Shepton Mallet has been recognised by the Green Flag Award Scheme as one of the very best in the world, and is the only park in the Mendip area to receive the award.   

The park is among a record-breaking 1,970 parks and green spaces in the UK and 131 in 13 other countries around the world, that today received a prestigious Green Flag - the mark of a quality park or green space.

Lorry Fire at Easton Somerset

Two fire engines from Shepton Mallet and Glastonbury attended a lorry on fire in Easton. A further fire engine from Wells and the water bowser from Bridgwater and some off road vehicles were also requested to attend.
The lorry had caught fire to the hedgerow and bushes and some of a field as well as affecting a BT pole. The road was closed while crews worked with hose reels and compressed air foam jets to try and extinguish the fire.

Rudimental on the Mainstage

As we move into the last day of NASS Festival 2019 at the Bath and West Showground, near Shepton Mallet, yesterday (Saturday 12 July) saw a wide selection of music acts spread over 15 stages, live and curated street art and the world's top skate and BMX athletes compete. 

Headline act Rudimental closed the Mainstage yesterday with a performance that was enjoyed by the packed and energetic crowd.

NASS Festival 2019 got underway yesterday (Friday) with Giggs and Grandmaster Flash starring, but the event was marred locally by the neighbouring Mendip School having to close due to festival-goers accessing the site and "inappropriate behaviour".

Having sold out of Weekend Camping and VIP Camping tickets, the Bath and West Showground near Shepton Mallet welcomed 30,000 festival-goers keen to make the most of NASS' selection of music acts, spread over 15 stages.
