Andrew Oakerbee, who has been appointed as the new hospital director at Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre

Andrew Oakerbee, aged 49, has been appointed hospital director at Shepton Mallet NHS Treatment Centre, it has been announced.

Andrew comes to Shepton Mallet from sister hospital Southampton NHS Treatment Centre, where he was acting hospital director and part of the team which saw the hospital become the only one in Hampshire to be rated Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

The Great Western Classic Car Show

Kicking off the classic car show season every year, the Great Western Classic Car Show on February 8 and 9 is the biggest of its kind in the South West and 2020 plans to be the best ever show.

4110 arrives at Cranmore

Volunteers at East Somerset Railway have an exciting new project for 2020 with the arrival of ex-GWR Large Prairie 4110 2-6-2T, which arrived at the Cranmore Station today (January 9) after being transported from the Dartmouth Steam Railway.

The East Somerset Railway (ESR) will begin three years of restoration work followed by a three-year period when the ESR will be able to use the loco to haul their passenger trains.
