Zion Hill in Shepton Mallet to close for 21 days of broadband works

A section of Zion Hill in Shepton Mallet will be closed for three weeks this April while broadband infrastructure is upgraded.
Somerset Council has issued a temporary traffic order that will prohibit all traffic from using Zion Hill from the junction with Rectory Road, heading north-westwards for 33 metres.
The closure will allow Nexifibre to carry out excavation works to build three chambers and lay ducting to connect multiple points in the fibre network.
The order comes into force on Thursday 3 April 2025 and will remain legally valid for up to 18 months, although the works themselves are scheduled to begin on Thursday 10 April and continue until Wednesday 30 April 2025.
The closure will be in place 24 hours a day.
Drivers are advised to follow signed diversion routes. Full details, including maps of alternative routes, are available at one.network.
