Although the usual Lantern Parade has been cancelled due to the pandemic, the Shepton Mallet Lantern Festival has announced that there will indeed be lanterns in the town over the Christmas period, and that the spectacular Shepton Ram will again be making an appearance.

People are invited to bring their own personal lanterns from previous years to be displayed in the shop windows of the town.

There will be a collection point in the old Tourist Information Centre at the top of the town on December 15 and 16.

Lanterns will then be distributed around the shop windows of the town where they will light up the town over Christmas.

Extra lantern making kits are also available from Dredge and Male, and The Hive in Shepton. For full details about the arrangements for displaying lanterns please contact [email protected].
