Winter events in Shepton announced as the festive countdown begins

By Laura Linham 8th Nov 2022

The nights are drawing in, the countdown to Christmas is on, and plenty is planned in Shepton Mallet throughout the winter to make it a memorable occasion and help keep the winter blues at bay.

Running from November to March, there's everything from free family-friendly theatre to creative workshops for the over 55s, Christmas markets and literary festivals, there's a little bit of something for everyone in this year's Winter Series. Moreover, with Shepton Mallet Town Council funding, nearly every event in the programme is free to access - although you might need to book in advance.

The events kick off with the Winter Wanderland and Shepton Mallet Carnival, but for those looking to get a headstart on their Christmas prep and shopping, you can take your pick from a natural materials Christmas decoration workshop, print your own Christmas card event, wreath making, Christmas markets and Victorian Fayre.

If you're in the mood for a party, there's an LGBTQ+ disco, dance performances, Lantern Festival after-party and dance events.

And if you prefer something a little quieter and more reflective, you're covered too, with writing and art workshops, religious worship, tea parties and quizzes.

You can find the full program online here.
