Staff at Whitstone School in Shepton Mallet say it was a real pleasure to welcome nearly 400 prospective parents, carers and students to their Open Evening last week.

The school says the feedback has been very positive, with lots of comments being sent to them regarding the atmosphere around school, the welcoming staff and different "challenges" posed to the prospective students as they toured the building.

A spokesperson said: "On a wet and windy evening, it was wonderful to see so many people walk through the doors of our school for the first such event since the Covid pandemic began.

On parent said: "Can I say how impressed I was by the Open Evening last night?

"The effort that was put in to the displays in each classroom was fantastic. The variety that was displayed and the way the teachers were engaging with the students was lovely.

"I was simply blown away by the welcome feel and friendliness from all the staff, and the students.

"We actually struggled to get round to see everything and my boy was so exited and curious by all the different activities that were on display.

"He has always struggled with creativity as a younger age but last night he really did shine with everything Whitstone had to offer.

"I am very excited to say we will be applying for September next year and am also very excited to see him grow throughout the school. Huge well done to all staff and students who contributed to last night."
