Where is the cheapest fuel in Shepton Mallet?

By Emma Dance   19th Mar 2022

Petrol prices are continuing to rise. But where is the cheapest fuel in and around Shepton?

According to PetrolPrices.com on Monday the price at the pumps at Tesco was 166.9p/litre. If you head out of the town though, you may be able to save yourself a few pence (or even pounds). The price on the pump at Broadway Garage in Chilcompton was 164.9p/litre, the same as Moff Motors in Castle Cary. Harvest & Energy Castle Cary is a little bit cheaper again at 163.9p/litre. The Esso at Wirral Park in Glastonbury is also 163.9p/litre, as is Morrisons.

You won't get such a good price at Morrison's in Wells though – it's 3p/litre more expensive than in Glastonbury at 166.9p/litre – the same as Tesco in Shepton.

All of these are higher than the average pump price in the UK though which, according to official figures from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategies, was 159.96p/litre at the start of the week. That's up 7p a litre from the previous week, and a massive rise of 36.1p/litre from last year.
