What's on in Shepton Mallet: From The Big Bark at the Bath & West Showground to Sheptopoly

First on the list is the Big Bark at Bath & West, hosted by A Doggy Day Out. This two-day event takes place on April 22 and 23 at the Bath & West Showground and is filled with activities for dogs and their humans, including shopping, dog training, and much more. The event runs from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm on both days.
Mark your calendars for Sunday, April 23, as Hanson's Whatley Quarry, invites you to a free and exciting open day event! The Quarry's open day, previously postponed due to HM Queen Elizabeth's funeral, promises a wide range of family-friendly activities including impressive quarry machinery displays, vintage vehicles exhibit, and stands that showcase the quarry's fascinating operations and the wildlife thriving in it. What's more, visitors will also have the chance to discover a collection of fossil and mineral finds from the site and join in the children's coloring competition. Top it all off with a minibus tour of the £10 million upgraded quarry plant, rail and excavation areas. All are welcome, so bring the whole family along for a day of fun and learning!
Next up is the Somerset Sportive, also taking place on April 22 at the Bath & West Showground. This stunning cycle tour of the Somerset levels is followed by a climb up the fabulous Cheddar Gorge. The event starts at 7:30 am and runs until 5:00 pm. Admission starts at £40 per person.
For those who love music, The Upside Down Kinks is a must-see. This all unreserved table-seated venue takes place at Pilton Club at 8:00 pm on Saturday. General admission tickets cost £13.20 and the doors open at 7:00 pm.
For theatre lovers, toooB is an enchanting wordless show for babies and their grown-ups, aimed at those aged between 6-24 months. This magical theatre experience takes place on April 21 at the Paul Street Community Centre in Shepton Mallet. The show lasts for 25 minutes, followed by a 15-minute stay and play session with the performer.
Friday Folk Plus: Barry Lane & the Fridge Mechanics is a free event on April 21 at the Art Bank. Doors open at 7:00 pm and music starts at around 8:00-8:30 pm. This event features Barry Lane's folk-rock songs and showcases the band's rich and diverse range of musical experience.
Last but not least, Sheptopoly is back! This annual event takes place on April 22 at The Art Bank Cafe in Shepton Mallet. Play as a team and complete tasks while sampling the different cultures that call the town home. The event runs from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.
