Staff at the Mendip School, near Shepton Mallet, recorded fun video clips to stay connected with pupils and raise spirits during the Easter break.

The footage was sewn together by Alisa Creaser, assistant principal in charge of primary at the specialist school for children with autism and speech and language communication needs.

Alisa also took part in the fun video performed to Olly Murs' upbeat Dance With Me Tonight and can be seen dancing in her garden sporting pink sunglasses.

"We decided to do something fun as a surprise for the children," she told Shepton Mallet Nub News.

"Our adults - from teachers to teaching assistants, lunch providers to the office and maintenance team - got behind it and contributed clips.

"While we have been open during term time we had a break over the Easter holiday.

"We felt it was important to keep connected with the children and, hopefully, make them smile."

The entertaining YouTube video was warmly welcomed by pupils' parents.

"We have received wonderful feeback from parents who said they really enjoyed it and were grateful we made the effort to keep in touch," Alisa said.

The Prestleigh school, for pupils aged four to 19, reopened yesterday (April 20) for vulnerable children and key workers' children.
