WATCH: 'It's going to happen' - Michael Eavis is working 'flat out' for Glastonbury Festival 2021

By Tim Lethaby 16th Jul 2021

Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis has said he is confident the event will happen in 2021, and that he was working flat out to make sure it takes place.

Speaking in this video shared with Shepton Mallet Nub News, Mr Eavis said they still had to wait and see, but he thought "it will happen".

The video was filmed in Croscombe just before Christmas, and in it he says: "I am going flat out.

"People are saying no, you can't do it, but wait and see. On June 25, there will be millions of people down in Pilton, you just wait and see. It's going to happen."

Organiser of the event, and daughter of Michael, Emily Eavis said in a recent interview with the BBC that the festival team is considering options on how to ensure the event can go ahead.

She said: "I can't tell you how much we'd love to welcome everyone back to the farm.

"It's been way too quiet here this year and we want to get people back here as soon as we possibly can.

"Obviously the vaccine news in recent weeks has increased our chances, but I think we're still quite a long way from being able to say we're confident 2021 will go ahead."
