As the big stages light up on Worthy Farm for Glastonbury Festival, whether you were lucky enough to bag yourself a ticket or will be watching from the comfort of your home, the team at Betway have listed 10 facts you might not know about Glastonbury Festival and some of the iconic artists on this year's lineup:

Over 3 Million Phone Calls were Made at Glastonbury 2022

It seems festivalgoers were keen to share their experience with others at last year's five-day event, as analysts at Glastonbury Festival's official technology partner, EE, revealed that 3.4 million phone calls were made - a rise of 200,000 from 2019. Additionally, a whopping 182 terabytes of data were used over the five-day period - a 76% increase from 2019's record and the equivalent of viewing 7.2 billion Instagram posts.

Arctic Monkeys Return for Their Third Time as Headliners

This year won't be the first time the Arctic Monkeys have headlined Glastonbury Festival, as the band first took to the Pyramid Stage back in 2007, just five years after the band formed.

The band headlined once again in 2013, thanks to the success of four huge studio albums, with their game-changing record 'AM' due to be released just a few months later.

Glastonbury 2023 Will Be the Ultimate Send-Off for Sir Elton John

It was announced that Elton John's headlining performance, on one of the biggest stages of them all at Glastonbury, will mark the final UK show of his last-ever tour 'Farewell Yellow Brick Road'.

John will be closing the world-famous Pyramid Stage on Sunday 28th June, for what promises to be a set littered with classics. The performance will mark his last ever UK show and second ever appearance at a UK festival.

Lizzo's Flute Has its Own Instagram Account

Did you know that Lizzo is a classically trained flutist? Not only that, her flute goes by the alter ego 'Sasha Flute' and even has its own Instagram account with over 345,000 followers!

Will Sasha Flute be making its Glastonbury Festival debut accompanying the 'About Damn Time' star?

Lana Del Rey Has Matching Tattoos with a Past Glastonbury Headliner

Lana Del Rey is returning to Glastonbury Festival this year, but one thing you might not know is that the 'Summertime Sadness' star has a matching tattoo with previous Glastonbury headliner, Adele.

Not only do the iconic pair have the word 'Paradise' inked on their skin, but they also have it in the exact same placement on the side of their hand - talk about a coincidence!

Guns N' Roses Accidentally Spilled the Beans About Their Glastonbury Appearance

Guns N' Roses bassist, Duff McKagan, accidentally let it slip that the band is making an appearance on this year's lineup when chatting about their summer plans on his radio show back in January, stating, "Glastonbury will be iconic for us".

The official announcement didn't come from Glastonbury Festival itself until almost two months later, in March.

Lil Nas X's Surprise 2019 Glasto Appearance Marked His International Debut

Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus joined Miley Cyrus onstage during her 2019 headline show on the Pyramid Stage, for a surprise performance of their 2019 dominating track, 'Old Town Road', followed by a solo performance by Lil Nas X of his hit 'Panini'.

Lil Nas X took to Twitter to celebrate the occasion, stating, "My first time in another country!!! Insane". Will fans be treated to any more surprises from Lil Nas X at his 2023 headlining show?

Lewis Capaldi Famously Trolled Noel Gallagher During his 2019 Glasto Entrance

Lewis Capaldi will return to the Glastonbury stage this year, after his iconic appearance back in 2019 when he and Noel Gallagher famously got involved in a bit of friendly banter, which led to one of the most viral entrances in the festival's history.

When Glastonbury announced the first wave of headliners for this year's event back in March, Lewis posted a throwback clip of the iconic 2019 moment to his TikTok. He accompanied the video with the caption, 'See you in June' before tagging the official Glastonbury Festival account, which has raked up over 7.3M views.

Aitch Made it 'Rain' at Glastonbury 2022

Aitch has already had a stint on the Glastonbury stage when he surprised fans and joined fellow UK rapper AJ Tracey on stage in 2022 to perform their high-energy hit 'Rain'.

With over 59.7 million views, Aitch and AJ Tracey's track 'Rain' serves as the rapper's most-viewed music video on YouTube. Let's hope he doesn't bring the actual rain to this year's festival!
