A crash between a lorry and a car this morning (November 12) on the A37 just north of Shepton Mallet has seen the road closed, causing traffic delays in the area.

The crash happened at around 6.30am today and involved a collision between a lorry and a car on Long Hill.

At the time of writing (10.15am) the road was closed, though the police have said it is due to re-open shortly.

A police spokesperson said: "No one in either of the vehicles has suffered any serious or life-threatening injuries.

"The occupant of a separate vehicle, not involved in the initial collision, has suffered what's believed to be a medical episode and they have been taken to hospital for treatment."

Motorists are being advised to avoid the area, as there are reports of heavy traffic in Shepton Mallet itself, and many of the back lanes have been clogged by traffic trying to get around the road closure.
