As UK's festival season gears up with events like Radio 1 Big Weekend and Leeds Festival setting their dates, the critical issue of toilet facilities at these events remains a prevalent concern.

As anyone who has ever braved a portable loo at a festival can tell you, going to the toilet at a festival can be traumatising experience.

But festivalgoers, often grappling with inadequate sanitation during these events, can now make informed choices, thanks to a study by sanitation experts at Diamond Trailers.

Diamond Trailers has crowned Glastonbury Festival as the undisputed leader in a comprehensive study examining toilet access at UK festivals. With 5,000 toilets and urinals, Glastonbury surpasses all other festivals.

Edinburgh International Festival and Radio 1 Big Weekend trail behind, securing the second and third spots respectively, with an estimated 4,433 and 828 toilets/urinals. Festival enthusiasts can refer to the complete ranking and detailed methodology to plan their festival experience better.

Diamond Trailers used a YouGov survey to pinpoint the most attended festivals among millennials. They established what the capacity was for each event and made estimated calculations on how many men and women attended each major festival.

Following that they calculated how many toilets would be needed to support the capacity, basing it off the Let Loos metric of having at least one toilet per 75 women, at least one toilet per 400 men and one urinal per 100 men.

The study suggested that Glastonbury, with a capacity of 210,000, would require 2,742 toilets and urinals to meet the demands of its attendees. However, a figure of approximately 5,000 toilets, as reported by the Daily Telegraph, indicates that the festival has exceeded these expectations and provided additional facilities.

On the other hand, the Edinburgh International Festival, with a crowd size of 400,000, secured the second spot, necessitating an estimated 4,433 toilets. The Radio 1 Big Weekend took the third position, with 828 toilets catering to its 80,000 attendees.

To ensure a comfortable festival experience, Diamond Trailers offers practical tips for attendees. These include carrying personal toilet paper, opting for easy-to-remove clothing, carrying hand sanitiser, avoiding peak usage hours, and ensuring cleanliness before using facilities.
