The £200,000 redevelopment of the playground in Collett Park is storming ahead - and here's your chance to see how the work is going.

Works started on January 9th, with Sutcliffe Play South West making the design a reality. If all goes according to plan, the new-look park should be open by the end of March.

The redevelopment has been made possible by charitable donations. The area will be redesigned to enhance and reflect the park's natural beauty and cater to people of all abilities.

It will feature areas for quiet play, toddlers and juniors, with a range of innovative and stimulating equipment for children of all ages and abilities, including, a trampoline, rope bridge, sensory games panel, activity tables and planning permission has recently been granted for a 6-metre climbing frame.

And here's how things are looking one month into works at the site:

A spokesperson for Octoplay Ltd, who have been installing the play equipment said: "Progress being made every day and it's really starting to take shape! Not long now!"

While the work is underway, people who use the park are being reminded that there will be increased vehicle activity on Park Road, with work vehicles accessing the site via the gates at the top of the road.

Collett Park remains open as usual, but the play areas are closed. Please be careful and remain safely clear of the site, especially while works are being carried out.

Throughout the works, please make use of West Shepton Playing Fields and the playground on Queens Road for anyone wanting to use play equipment.

All local schools, businesses, community groups and residents have been notified of any potential disruptions. There will be a site manager on site during the week who will be able to address any immediate concerns and a telephone number for out of hours emergencies during the weekend.
