More than 1,000 local Year 6 pupils will meet popular children's author Sam Sedgman as part of the Wells Festival of Literature (17–25 October).

Sedgman, whose latest book The Forbidden Atlas continues the adventures of Isaac Turner and Hattie, will be at the festival for three sessions of closed events for pupils only.

The initiative is organised by the festival's education team and funded by ticket sales to public festival events.

While not open to the public, these school sessions allow pupils to hear about writing, ask questions and gain inspiration. Copies of Sedgman's books will be available for purchase, and signed editions will be offered from £2. Transport for the participating schools is also covered by the festival.

Sedgman's other titles include The Highland Falcon Thief and the Adventures on Trains series, co‑authored with M. G. Leonard.
