A Somerset woman, identified only as Miss D, has scooped a £1 million prize from the National Lottery and is planning a celebratory trip to Greece.

The lucky winner struck gold by matching five main numbers and the Bonus Ball in the Lotto draw on Saturday, July 6.

Miss D, who purchased her winning Lucky Dip ticket online via the National Lottery's website, is among the eight million players who win each week on various National Lottery games. Winners have the option to remain anonymous or release certain details through partial publicity.

Andy Carter, Senior Winners' Advisor at The National Lottery, expressed his excitement: "Opa! Huge congratulations to Miss D, who has banked a million pounds and can now celebrate in style with an amazing holiday in Greece."

For those looking to try their luck, tickets can be purchased and checked online by downloading the National Lottery app or visiting national-lottery.co.uk. Tickets are also available at retail locations. The app allows users to scan retail tickets to quickly find out if they are winners.

Playing online through the app or website ensures that tickets are automatically checked, and winners receive email notifications. Setting up a National Lottery Direct Debit online ensures that you never miss a draw, with the added convenience of not having to manage physical tickets or manually check numbers.

At national-lottery.co.uk, players can participate in all draw-based games like Lotto, EuroMillions, Set For Life, and Thunderball, as well as a variety of Instant Win Games once they have registered an account.

By participating in any National Lottery game, players help generate £30 million each week for projects funded by the National Lottery. This funding has supported over 690,000 projects throughout the UK, benefiting a wide range of initiatives both large and small.
