Those who gave their lives for others in conflicts will be remembered this weekend.

Remembrance Day parades and services will be held in Shepton Mallet this Sunday, as townsfolk and villagers pay their respects to armed forces members who died in the line of duty.

The event commemorates the contribution of British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women in the two World Wars. It also commemorates later conflicts such as the Falklands War, Gulf War, and other conflicts such as those in Afghanistan and Iraq.

In Shepton, people wanting to pay their respects are asked to gather at The Cenotaph from 10.35am, with the service getting under way at 10.45am, led by Shepton Mallet British Legion.

Following the service at The Cenotaph, there will be a parade down to St Peter and St Paul's Church for a Remembrance service at 11.20am.
