Shepton Mallet is gearing up for a weekend brimming with unique and festive events that promise to entertain and, erm, terrify its residents.

From ghostly encounters to the magic of Christmas tales, the town offers a diverse range of activities to suit all interests.

January kicks off with the much-loved Giant Flea Market on 21st January, offering a treasure trove of finds. Following closely is the Somerset Vintage & Classic Tractor Show from 27th-28th January, a must-visit for tractor enthusiasts. The month wraps up with the Toy & Train Collectors Fair on 28th January, a haven for collectors and hobbyists. February brings the Somerset Comic Con and Gaming Festival on 3rd February, a dream event for comic book and gaming fans. The Pasta Making Experience with Pasta Laboratory on 4th February offers a delightful culinary adventure. Young Driver on 17th February is set to revolutionise road safety with driving lessons for 10-17 year olds. The month concludes with the Bristol Classic Motorcycle Show from 24th-25th February, celebrating the history and beauty of classic motorcycles.

The weekend kicks off with a spine-tingling adventure at Shepton Mallet Prison. The 'Shepton Mallet Prison Ghost Hunt' runs from the evening of Friday 15th December to the early hours of Saturday 16th December. This event is perfect for thrill-seekers and paranormal enthusiasts, offering a chance to explore one of the UK's most haunted prisons after dark. Get yourself booked in while you still can.

On Saturday, 16th December, the focus shifts to our furry friends with 'Santapaws Christmas Fun' at PUP - Positively Understanding Pooches in Hornblotton. Starting at 10:00 AM, this event is a festive treat for pet lovers, featuring Christmas-themed activities for dogs and their owners.

Music lovers are in for a treat as Pilton Club on St Mary's Lane hosts Sladest - plus support Craig & Alex Priddic from 19:00 to 23:30. This event promises an evening of vibrant music and entertainment, perfect for those looking to enjoy some live performances.

For a more serene musical experience, 'Simply Having a Wonderful Xmas Time' at At The Chapel in Bruton offers a delightful evening. This event, running from 19:30 to 22:30, will fill the air with festive tunes and Christmas cheer.

On Sunday, 17th December, Taffy Thomas brings 'Midwinter Tales' to Lamyatt Village Hall from 16:00 to 17:30. This storytelling event is perfect for families, offering enchanting tales that capture the spirit of the season.

Additionally, the Christmas Holiday Club at St Paul's Junior School is set to bring joy to the younger crowd. Starting on 18th December and running until 21st December, the club offers a range of activities, including Christmas crafts and party games. It's a wonderful opportunity for children to engage in festive fun and creativity.

Shepton Mallet's weekend is packed with a variety of events that are sure to cater to every taste. Whether you're into ghost hunting, enjoying live music, or indulging in festive stories, there's something for everyone!
