Shepton Mallet has a new reason to celebrate as Collett Park has been awarded a prestigious 5-star rating at the South West in Bloom Pride in Parks Awards.

This notable accolade marks the park's inaugural entry into the competition and reflects the dedication and hard work of the team responsible for the park's upkeep.

The park was praised for its exemplary maintenance, featuring robust, healthy trees and well-maintained play equipment.

The seating areas were also noted for their good condition, adding to the overall appeal and usability of the park.

A highlight for the judges was the park's rewilding areas, which they recommended be expanded further to enhance the natural beauty and biodiversity of the space.

The town council issued a statement saying: "This is the first time that Collett Park was entered into the award and we are really proud of the work being carried out by the team in the park."
